You start off not knowing the juicy bits. As events unfold, they should surprise you. Sharing the surprise is all the fun. Sharing the surprise is the reason to write.
The crux of telling the story is revealing the events that fascinate you. The work is in creating surprise. The work is keeping the reader turning the page, moving further with you... wondering "my God... what can be next?"
