2019 was a very difficult year. Not only was I sick during all of January and December, I was knocked off my bike by a car in May which kept me from cycling for over a month as well.
I had some modest goals, but unfortunately, I didn't achieve any of them. In fact, I cycled the fewest days and least miles since coming to Wales 10 years ago. I've compiled a summary of my disappointing numbers below.
2019 by the Numbers
These are the main numbers to consider. Starting on 01 January 2019 through 31 December 2019 I cycled the following. (Note: All averages are mean.)
TOTAL Distance cycled: 3,284.9 miles
A total of all the miles cycled in the calendar year.
TOTAL Number of Days cycled: 65 days
All of the indivudual days when I cycled at least once. Mulitple rides on the same day count as one (1) ride/day.
TOTAL Amount of Elevation Gain: 177,610 feet
The total amount (in feet) of elevation I climbed during my Total Distance.
Average Distance cycled per day: 50.54 miles
The simple division of the Total Distance by the Total Number of Days.
Average Elevation Gain cycled per day: 2,178 feet
The simple division of the Total Elevation Gain by the Total Number of Days.
Average Distance cycled per month: 273.74 miles
The Total Distance divided by twelve(12).
Average Number of days cycled each month: 5.41 days
The Total Number of Days divided by twelve(12).
