2019 Goals

It's simple; Ride less and write more.

I made some very aggressive goals for myself last year and I came damn close to achieving most of them. However, I learned a couple of things: I didn't enjoy the big mileage goals and I'd rather have destination goals. I'm going to change that up this year.

Just to drive the point home, here's what I said last year all of which I didn't achieve:
Smiles not Miles
That's the quote from my good friend, John Wilson... and it's absolutely true. Make everyday out on the bike an adventure... something exciting, something worth remembering. Because when all is said and done, you'll not remember the miles. And who cares really? So with that cleared up, let's look at some destinations!

Bike & Hike Adventures
Some day trips featuring my new favourite adventure combination.

Medieval Mania
I've cycled past these castles on numerous occasions and I want to make a concerted effort to visit and photograph them.

Extended Tours
Perhaps a couple of overnight trips (links to RwGPS route/plans)...

Writing Projects
This shouldn't be so far down the page for this is to be a main focus with my 2019 Goals.

  • Six Issues of Bike Wales for 2019 (January, March, May, July, September, & November)
  • Taff Trail; complete section One, begin Sections Two & Three.
  • Gospel Pass for Ride with GPS (condensed version)
  • Grosmont & Skinfrith for Ride with GPS (condensed version)

That should be enough to get me started! Of course there are loads of places that I want to revisit; Barry Island, Ogmore-by-the-Sea, and Hay-on-Wye, to name just a few.
So really, my goals for 2019 are not that different from 2018. I'm just going to ignore the distances and focus on going places, seeing things, coming home and writing about my experiences. Simples.
